We’ll explore Alternative Environment Technologies in the next chapter of this module including; Assistive technologies, Immersive Environments, Presentation and multimedia technologies, Social networking tools, Mobile technologies, Gaming & Simulations, and Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality.

In the meantime, here are two examples of how Alternative Online Environments stimulate a better learning environment. Both of these examples are case studies developed for the VET-TEDD project.

Virtuali-Tee by CuriscopeCity of Glasgow College (Scotland)

The first is ‘Virtuali-Tee by Curiscope’, which is an online app embedding Augmented Reality & 3D technology to learn about the human body. Our Social Care course team utilised digital learning in their teaching, as it’s becoming the modern way to learn.

Watch the video below which explains more about the use of this technology and approach.

Ship Simulator – City of Glasgow College (Scotland)

The second example is the use of simulators in learning and discusses Scotland’s first 360 degree full mission ship handling simulator, providing all cadets with a simulator experience allowing them to demonstrate practical learning.
