2.4.5. Anti-virus Softwares

Hundreds of hackers continually train and train to try to circumvent the security of our computers to access our data or to make our own computers work for them for obscure purposes.

Lesson goals and objectives

In this lesson you will learn:

  • Differentiating malware programs from antivirus programs
  • Differentiating types of malware
  • that it is important what you do online

If viruses are only one type of malware, obviously an antivirus does not protect us against ALL types of malware.

If this is the case, what are the strategies to be able to defend against malware?

1.4.5.1. Types of malware

Knowing how we can be infected or attacked allows us to establish barriers and protection mechanisms that minimize damage.

Just as in medicine not all diseases are treated equally and a virus is not the same as a bacteria, when we talk about types of malware, it is important to know what we are dealing with.

1.4.5.2. Malware protection

When we know we have been infected by a malware, we have a lot of questions like:

How did I get infected with this malware?

Am I infecting other computers without knowing it?

Do they have access from outside to my computer and its data?

Can they use it for non-noble purposes?

Can they destroy or delete my data?

How can I remove it from my computer?

Will I lose my data when I do so?
