2.3.3 Firewalls

If we want to know what Firewalls really are, we must take a journey. Watch the video, think, and do the self-reflection bellow. This is the first lesson in row.

Lesson goals and objectives

In this lesson you will learn:

  • Identify the factors that compromise cyber security.
  • Understand the legislation that relates to online security and data management.
  • Evaluate the most effective ways to plan for and respond to breaches in online security and data management.

In the world of information technology, security is essential. With the advances of the Internet, the interrelationship of computers, communication and data traffic, threats on the network are a problem to be solved.

A firewall is a security system that allows access to a computer to be blocked. This system can be provided by applications or software installed on a computer or physical devices connected to it.

The configuration of these firewalls can be very diverse. You can analyse the flow of incoming and outgoing information, detect whether there is any malware connecting to the network and control the use of a company’s internal networks, among other things.
